The Congresss created NFIP in 1968 as a means for property owners to obtain flood insurance. They provide insurance to property owners, renters and business owners pending their community is a NFIP participant. What this means is that your community has agreed to adopt and enforce ordinancesto meet FEMA reduceing flooding requirements.
